Cafe du Monde is world famous for their French beignets. Beignet means doughnut in French. It’s fried dough covered in powdered sugar. When we first sat down at Cafe du Monde, we were unimpressed with the lack of menu. It’s not your typical cafe. All Cafe du Monde serve is coffee, milk, juice, water, and beignets. And the amazing part? They are always crowded. The outdoor cafe is cash only, but you can get carry-out. Each order comes with 3 beignets.

2 of 3 beignets

I’ll confess to being completely skeptical because I’m definitely not a doughnut eater. I have a hard time eating something that is so bad for me. But I did enjoy beignets and  ended up being on a sugar overload afterwards.

The finished product. Powdered sugar everywhere.

Stop by and grab a bite for dessert. My advice is to go in the evening because right after work around 4:00 PM, the place is packed out. Bon Appetit!
