No one escapes the favelas without retaliation.

Former international futbol star Ronaldo Cevere has had one mission on his mind for the last twenty years— finish what his murdered sister started. His plans to change the face of women’s rights in Brazil via futbol become a reality following a national scandal. However, attempting to change the life of society outcasts like Daniela Gomes paints a target over his still-bleeding heart. The girls deserve the chance he once had—the chance he wished his sister had before she was gunned down in the very streets these girls live in.

But well-armed forces won’t let them go and aren’t afraid to draw blood.

  1. The Honey Do List Specialist

Watching the life of Daniela is so intriguing. Will she get her dream of a chance at futbol or keep garbage digging. What will become of her and her brother?

  2. Amanda Beard

As in all her books, Gill creates a brilliant mix of well-developed endearing characters, compelling romance, and page turning action, all while shining light on social justice issues throughout the world. Her vivid descriptions paint a picture of a world of destitution and injustice that many choose to ignore. Gill provides a realistic picture of a society still fighting violence, gender inequality, and poverty every day, but within a story infused with hope that faith and love really can conquer the day through ordinary people.

  4. Sherri J

Once again, Gill has captured the heart of this reader with her story of perseverance, faith, defeat and victory. I loved these characters and loved the romantic thread throughout. Her attention to detail brought me right into the Favelas and into the world of a poverty stricken teen who needs a hand up. Check this book out.
